Reports of domestic violence have increased since the pandemic began, and food insecurity is at an all-time high. Survivors of domestic abuse are struggling not only to build new lives, but to eat.
The Sudbury League board has voted to sponsor a drive to purchase grocery gift cards to support clients of Gifts of Hope Unlimited (GOHU). For those of you who are not familiar with GOHU, it is a Sudbury-based organization that was founded by members of the League. GOHU partners with social service providers like Sudbury’s town social worker to identify needs and provide essential resources to help individuals and families impacted by relationship violence.
You will soon receive an official notice of this “Give Groceries—Give Hope” drive, but we wanted to let you know that a group of Sudbury League members has formed a matching fund, pledging to match the first $500 donated during the drive. If you would like to be part of and to increase this matching fund, please email Nell Forgacs, firstname.lastname@example.org, and let her know the amount you want to donate.
Watch for more information on the drive, which will run June 1 to June 15, including information to share with your friends to encourage them to participate.
